The AI Alliance GitHub organization is the place to discover, use, and contribute to a variety of open-source projects for generative AI.
The AI Alliance Community is a non-profit (501(c)(3)) foundation that supports the success of essential open technology and research projects in the AI community with particular focus on data, models, and agents. We are dedicated to the benefit of AI for all of society - not just industry.
The AI Alliance launched Project Tapestry to build a collaborative foundation for open and sovereign AI. Project Tapestry is an open-source platform designed to enable globally federated development of frontier, open models while preserving sovereignty, local control, and long-term independence.
Why this matters: People will not use models that under perform on their language, legal context, and domain knowledge. And countries, enterprises, and individuals need AI infrastructure they own and control — with guaranteed data residency, the right to exit, and the ability to operate independently. Tapestry addresses both problems simultaneously: sovereignty is the performance strategy, not a trade-off against it.

Our unique two-tiered approach of Core and Supported projects empowers vibrant project growth, a commitment to transparency and permissive use licensing, but without inflexible requirements for IP transfer and rule by committee (project governance):
- Core Projects: owned and managed by the AI Alliance (indicated with the
icon).
- Supported Projects: owned and managed by an AI Alliance member organization with collaborators.
All of the projects welcome new contributors.
