heripo lab is a nonprofit organization that brings together archaeology and software engineering to make research resources more accessible. We build open-source tools and turn excavation reports into open data that researchers can explore, compare, and reuse.

heripo adopts a layered data model that separates documentation, data extraction, standardization, and interpretation:
- Document Structure Extraction — Preserve chapters, tables, figures, and images as-is.
- Archaeological Data Ledger — Record facts in a source-faithful, immutable form.
- Standardization — Apply standards selectively depending on research goals.
- Ontology — Define semantic relations for cross-site comparison and analysis.
This separation ensures authenticity, traceability, and academic verifiability.
