After building, the application opens to an empty green terminal and system alert sound.

Can you:

1. check console.app (or xcode console if running from Xcode) for any relevant errors. If forkpty or exec failed for some reason, there should be message to that effect printed. Neither of those should beep though. I wonder if there might also be a gatekeeper error preventing the shell from running.

2. In the Edit menu, select Copy Debug Data and paste into an editor of your choice. That's a log of recent incoming data. The only beeping should happen when a BELL/0x07 character is incoming. There could be an error message there that's not being displayed properly.
