A few core functions are missing but this is a great step in the right direction. Regressive design sucks but remember Github is owned by Microsoft now, and they cursed Windows users with Metro. Their whole goal is to break the design completely, then restore it, but a crappier version with maybe 20% of the original functionality, so then Github users can find newfound happiness at a much lower UX quality standard, and this will be the new normal. (everyone will forget the classic Github design even existed)
A big piece missing is the summary view upon landing on the page, to quickly catch up with the repos.
Some functionality like having the name of the selected Repo in the top right now it says Select All.
Also perhaps by default hiding the read notifications (with a selectbox to show them again).
